EXECUTIVE ADVISORY, COACHING & FACILITATION

Sometimes the most valuable thing isn't another answer.  It is a different way of seeing the problem.

When the stakes are high, the environment is changing at an accelerating pace, and familiar approaches are not producing the results you need, the most useful next step may be to question what you hav been assuming all along.

I work alongside leaders and teams navigating comnsequential decisions, complex and accelerating transformations, and the human patterns that shape what happens next.

THE PERSPECTIVE

Anchor 1

What if the problem you are trying to solve is not actually the problem at all?

A strategy stalls, so we revisit the plan.  Decisions take too long, we we tighten governance.  A team struggles to execute, so we add a layer of accountability.

Sometimes these responses are exactly what is needed.

But sometimes they are just familiar answers to a problem we have not fully understood.  And the more pressure we are under, the harder it can be to recgonize the patterns shaping our own response.

My work begins by helping leaders see what is happening beneath the visible activity.

THE WORK

Not more activity. Greater awareness of what the activity is creating.

A WAY TO WORK TOGETHER

Different challenges.  One underlying approach.

There is not a fixed playbook.  We start with the decisions, dynamics and changes you are navigating, then shape the partnership around what will make a meaningful difference.

This is an opportunity to examine it, not because everything you have learned is wrong, but because awareness may expand what is possible in how you lead.

01 / EXECUTIVE PARTNERSHIP

Advisory & Thought Partnership

Work alongside a trusted outside perspective as you navigate organizational complexity, accelerating transformation, stakeholder dynamics, and high-stakes decisions.

  • Transformation and strategic advisory

  • Executive decisions-making and pressure-testing

  • Operating rhythms, governance, and behavioral norms

  • Embedded or fractional leadership partnership

02 / INDIVIDUAL LEADERSHIP

Executive Coaching

A confidential space to examine your assumptions, recognize conditioned responses, and become more intentional about how you lead.

  • One-to-one leadership reflection and development

  • Navigating uncertainty, identity, and transistions

  • Complex relationships and difficult conversations

  • Turning awareness into new practices

03 / COLLECTIVE DECISIONS

Strategic Facilitation & Training

Design and lead the conversations that matter, helping teams move beyond familiar discussions and develop more useful ways of thinking and working.

  • Leadership and strategy workshops

  • Cross- functional alignment and decisions sessions

  • Practical training on the human side of change

  • Facilitated learning and follow-through

A DIFFERENT KIND OF PARTNERSHIP

I don't want to simply help you get better at playing the game.  I want to help you become more aware of the game you are playing.

WHERE THIS WORK BECOMES VALUABLE

When the usual answers stop moving things forward.

The strategy is clear.  But progress is not.

Look beneath the plan to the assumptions, competing beliefs, rewards and behaviors shaping execution.

Decisions need to move faster, responsibly.

Explore where caution is warranted, where experimentation is possible, and where familiar controls are slowing learning.

The leadership team is busy.  But stuck.

Bring awareness to the recurring conversations, unspoken tensions, and patterns that prevent collective movement.

Your role is changing faster then your habits.

Examine how identity, experience, and old definitions of success influence what you notice and how you respond.

HOW I WORK

Close enough to see the patterns.  Independent enough to question them.

Some of the most valuable insights happen inside the work itself; in a leadership meeting, a difficult decision, or a conversation where the team falls back into a familiar response.

01

Observe

Understand the context, listen closely, and notice the assumptions and patterns influencing what hapens.

02

03

Challenge

Practice

Ask questions that help leaders reconsider the problem, examine their own contribution, and see alternatives.

Translate insights into real decisions, new habits, healthier conversations, and operating mechanism that support real change.

WHY I CREATED THIS

Chris Schmelzer | Founder

I've spent decades helping organizations change.  My questions about change have changed, too.

My early work centered on strategies, structures, operating models and transformation plans.  Over time, I became increasingly interested in what happens beneath them: the assumptions leaders make, the identities they protect, and the behaviors organizations unknowingly reinforce.

Today, I bring that experience together with research in psychology, neuroscience, nervous-system responses and awareness.  The goal isn't to arrive with all the answers.  It is to help leaders see more clearly and create the conditions for meaningful change.

A FEW QUESTIONS

What might working together look like?

Is this traditional management consulting?

Not in the usual sense.  I can support strategy and transformation, but the emphasis is on the leadership decisions, organizational patterns, and behaviors that shape whether change actually happens.

Can you work directly with our executive team?

Yes.  Depending on the need, that may involve observing meetings, facilitating important conversations, advising executives, coaching selected leaders, or supporting a sustained transformation effort.

Do you offer one-time engagements?

Yes.  Some challegnes call for a focused workshop or facilitation session.  Others benefit from ongoing coaching, advisory support, or an embedded partnership.

How is this different from the Leadership Awareness Cohort?

The cohort is a defined developmental experience.  Advsiory, coaching, and facilitation are tailored to the immediate decisions, challenges, and transformation work you or your organization are navigating.

AN INVITATION

What are you trying to see more clearly?

Whether you are navigating a transformation, working through a difficult leadership challenge, or questioning a familiar approach that no longer seems to work, I'd welcome a conversation.
